In the beginning, there was nothing…

Welcome to Rauta! Or maybe I should call this Rauta Nexus, as the main Rauta thing is already on YouTube - the heart and core of this whole thing that I am doing.

The idea for this blog didn’t happen just like that. It started as an idea to expand the channel into written format, but then I started thinking, “But why?” There was no simple answer.

I was already doing my music reviews, opinions and takes as well as interviews on the YouTube channel, which is the reason why it exists. Why would there be a need for a blog and a website, as YouTube has it all?

Then I started to expand my dream of having my reviews and interviews in written format, too. Why not expand the Rauta thing a bit further? After all, I have done music reviews for over 25 years and there’s a lot that’s not out there as video. Also, the interviews could be published this way too, even if behind a paywall to get more of that ever-important monetary support for the channel, which would then enable more interviews and all that.

I have also wanted to write more about video games, movies, and television shows for quite some time. I used to do that for many years on another blog, but I killed it eventually. Lately, I have been doing that on social media, but there it all gets lost, is messy, and there are no tags or a way to find anything if I want to recommend a show, a movie, or a game to someone, just like with music.

So, here it is: the nexus to bind them all together. Will anybody read this in an era of videos? No idea, that remains to be seen. So for now, starters this will serve as some kind of archive and nexus for my thoughts and ideas. Will it fly or will it die? We shall see. Anyway, welcome to Rauta!
